My Story

If we desire to live a truly extraordinary life, our outer lives must reflect our true essence. We need to live consciously- speak our truth, live in love and pursue whatever brings us joy.

I believe I was put on this earth to create beauty and photography is one of the tools I have chosen. I shoot very differently than most photographers… I don't shoot quickly, frame after frame, hoping to catch something on film- Instead- I study you through my lens, and wait for your perfect moment… I capture true beauty by allowing your inner Spirit to shine through.

My photographs are clean with a magazine feel- alive and intensely intimate. Working largely in Black & White my portraits illustrate contrast, intensity and emotion. I love to show my work large scale- I feel smaller pieces don't do my images justice. You’ll know a Deborah Michael when you see it, it is something about the way you feel when you view my work... My subject is present...

It's funny, now with this digital age, everyone is a photographer... Most are jumping on the bandwagon with tricks and techniques... I am not going there. My work has always been pure, my gift is knowing how to capture you!

My distinctive style is a product of a fine art education from Columbia College of Chicago. In 1990- upon graduation, I moved to Arizona, fell in love with her endless blue skies and opened my first photography studio in Old Town Scottsdale.

My clients hire me for my vision, talent and style and the fine finishing I provide. My rates are based on the type of job, how the portraits will be used, the time involved, the degree of difficulty, your deadline, and my availability.
